After a week’s recuperation from my cold and a bit of laziness thrown in for good measure it was time to head out again and pound the pavement.
The plan was to make use of the miles in the bank and have a 8-10 mile jog. That didn’t last long, the freedom of not having a race in almost six weeks took control. I haven’t run that fast for that distance (9km) in a few years but let’s just say my 10k times are looking promising for later in the year if I can keep the training up.
Strangely it was great to have the lungs burn with exertion and even when I did stop for a breather the legs picked up the pace in no time. Whilst it was fun while it lasted, it’ll be back to more focused training in the future with maybe a quick blast thrown in for fun.
